Where are North & East Ontario’s worst roads? Some repeat offenders, some new additions to CAA’s annual Worst Roads survey.

CAA North & East Ontario today announced its annual list of Ontario’s worst roads for 2023, with repeat offender Carling Avenue topping the list for the 19th consecutive year. The 19-kilometre roadway running across the city through suburban, developed and urban neighbourhoods was again the target of voters’ disapproval. Other top five Ottawa roads include familiar names like Hunt Club Road, Heron Road, Bronson Avenue and Bank Street. One voter commented about Bank Street’s cracked pavement and potholes: "It’s like off-roading in the city.”

Ontario's potholes, crumbling shoulders and unsafe sidewalks are under scrutiny once again, with the 2023 launch of CAA's annual Worst Roads survey. Scheduled just in time for spring, when potholes and cracks appear from under ice and snow, Worst Roads is a major advocacy undertaking that gives road users a chance to voice their concerns. A report of the worst offenders provincially is compiled and shared with municipal authorities.
CAA Canadian EV Driver Study

Common pre-purchase concerns about EV ownership – including driving range, cold weather performance and battery degradation – decline dramatically after purchase, according to findings of the largest-ever survey of Canadian EV owners, conducted for the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA). The survey of over 16,000 EV owners from coast to coast found their top concern is the availability of public charging. More than four out of every 10 (44%) EV drivers say that this is a worry even after experiencing EV ownership. Significantly, EV owners say they spend 30% of their time charging outside the home.
Cyber Incident: CAA North & East Ontario

On January 25, 2023, CAA North & East Ontario experienced a systems outage, and we have since determined this was the result of a cyber incident. Over the past few days, we put procedures in place that enabled us to continue serving our Members while working with external IT experts to contain and resolve the incident.
